Portobello Practice-a-thon 2011

Music pupils from Portobello Music School and Towerbank Primary School are taking part in a two-week Practice-a-thon from 14th to 27th November 2011 to raise money for CLIC Sargent, the children's cancer charity.

75% of the total funds raised will go to CLIC Sargent to help with their wonderful work in supporting children with cancer.  The other 25%, which CLIC Sargent allows us to keep for our own cause will be matched by Portobello Music School and donated to our host school, Towerbank Primary School to contribute towards a wonderful new 30-piece Samba Kit which will enable the school to create its own afterschool Samba Band for the benefit of Towerbank Primary School pupils.

In 2010, our pupils raised over £2000 during our Practice-a-thon which involved children practicing every single day for two weeks! They managed to raise individual amounts ranging from £5 to £500 and everything in between.  This year we have set our target at £2500.  Children will practice every day for the whole two weeks in preparation for music exams and end of term Christmas music events so please support them in reaching our new target and helping our worthwhile causes.
