My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page to collect for a Koestler Trust Award in the name of John Weightman.

We know John will be hugely pleased to be given this, much more pleased than if we'd presented him with something. His work for prisoners through the IMB community has been outstanding: long service on the Castington IMB, six years representing the North-East, and Yorkshire & Humberside on the National Council, leading on Juvenile issues, leading the Learning and Skills working group, helping to produce the report on Segregation, discovering the need for work on in-cell sanitation (no - that's not glamorous, just important) and being a huge support and participant in this work. A Koestler award is something he'd not just enjoy but believe in. So dig as deep as you can - but remember he'd most value a large number of donations from members who recognise the value of the work. The more we collect the more years the Weightman award will stand. Thanks for reading this, and for your gift however small. It will all go straight to the Koestler Trust, and enable artistic expression by those in custody.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

I just wish we all had John's clear-sighted judgement of murky monitoring issues, and his superb commitment. His leaving is a great loss to the IMB.
