Join Pritika in Supporting Women Survivors of War - Danakil Depression

Biking across the Danakil Depression · 9 November 2017
Hi Friends,
You're here! Thank you for taking the time out of your day to visit my JustGiving page.
This November I will be joining a group of women to embark on a two-week Mountain Biking Expedition on November 10, 2017, to the Danakil Depression of Ethiopia, in support of women survivors of war. If you know me well, you will be know that this trip is beyond any personal boundaries I could have set for myself. But at its very core, this trip is rife with the belief that even if my effort is a drop in the ocean, it is all I have when it comes to wanting to make a difference and help these survivors.
After completing this crossing of the Danakil, the team and I will then fly to neighbouring Rwanda. The objective of this visit is to see first-hand where the funds raised by this expedition will be used and how Women for Women International’s holistic one-year programme works to help women who have suffered from the atrocities of war get back on their feet and become self-sufficient.
The money raised on this page will go directly to "Women for Women International" (more info below)- to provide tools and resources needed to move these women from crisis and poverty to stability and self-sufficiency. I hope you choose to support with a donation- even a small contribution goes a long way
Thank you very much, in advance for your support. I will share this adventure with you through photos throughout our trek.
With love and gratitude,
Pritika
About the charity:
Women for Women International envisions a world where no one is abused, poor, illiterate or marginalised; where members of communities have full and equal participation in the processes that ensure their health, well-being and economic independence; and where everyone has the freedom to define the scope of their life, their future and strive to achieve their full potential.
That is why Women for Women International work with the most marginalised women survivors of war, in a carefully designed and tested one-year core programme, to provide support and safety networks. The women in their programme can choose a vocational skill to learn and receive business training, so they can earn a living; they are educated on their legal rights and how to fight of those rights in their homes, their communities and their nations. Programme graduates report that strengthened self-confidence and solidarity with women and others in their communities help to sustain changes and build a peaceful, sustainable future.
Women for Women International are able to do this because of the support of our donors and sponsors. This is a real opportunity to support their work and have a real positive impact in countries where it is needed most. Women for Women International need your help, now more than ever, to enrol 3,700 more women through their programme between now and the end of the year. Your gift could transform a woman’s life, and have a huge impact on her family and community.
