Story
Walking the 110 miles from Farnham to Canterbury Cathedral along The Pilgrims’ Way has been a long held, albeit modest, ambition. But I wanted to do more than just enjoy the scenery as I walk in the footsteps of countless pilgrims who have passed along the route over the centuries. As a chorister (getting on a bit) singing all 150 Psalms as I go seems appropriate particularly as I had decided to sing a Psalm at the end of my trek at Canterbury Cathedral for a young man I know with a young family and an incurable brain tumour.
I will sing each Psalm in dedication or memoriam. If you would like me to remember someone on your behalf in singing a Psalm, please let me know (gjb@gbpp-planning.co.uk) and I will endeavour to let you know where and when the Psalm was sung.
Donations are going to S.A.L.V.E (Safetey and Love via Education), co-founded by my daughter, Helen, which helps street kids in Jinja, Uganda, into a home and full-time education, and to Bury Hospice (a separate JustGiving page). Since it was founded two years ago, S.A.L.V.E has helped a dozen children into a new and safe life, all of whom are now enjoying an education which they could only have dreamed off and which will provide them with the tools to help themselves out of poverty. But the need is enormous. Please have a look at their website and see for yourself the wonderful work S.A.L.V.E is doing.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
This is a personal pilgrimage but I hope with your donation it will make a real difference and help children into a new and safe life in Uganda.
