Story
Hello guys
I am raising money for children and young people who are deprived of a loving family, or a family at all. There are children and young people all over the world who, due to not having a caring family or home, never get the chance to fulfil their full potential. Action for children, the charity I have chosen to support, gives these deprived young people a voice 'for as long as it takes to make a difference in their lives.'
Why have I chosen to support this charity? This topic is a very personal topic. I am adopted and have been very lucky to have grown up in such a loving home, a home in which I have quite comfortably called the people who have taken care of me for most of life, my parents. This is a privilege not every adopted child has. What I have is a gift that not all young people get, having the life I have had so far has been pure luck. I am 21 years old and am nearing my 22nd birthday. I feel it is time to remember where I have come from, and try to help those who aren't as lucky as I have been.
The events I am going to do are these
Spartan Race - 8th September
Cardiff half marathon - 14th October
Aberystwyth 10 km road race Dec 2012
Hell Runner 9th Feb
Reading Half Marathon - April 13th
Three peaks Challenge TBC - Sometime in March
Divizers To Westminster Kayak Race - All Easter Weekend
I am going to swim the distance of the channel in the swimming pool - Early May/late April
Hadrians Wall ultrathon - 23rd - 24th June
I understand that these are extremely tough challenges, however I am confident in myself that I will be able to accomplish my goals. Any contributions are much appreciated.
Thank you
'Our fear is not that we are inadequate, our fear is that we are powerful beyond measure, it is out light not our darkness that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world, there is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you, we were all meant to shine as children do. And as we let our own light shine we unconsiously give other people permission to do the same as we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.'
