Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Mike and I found out we were expecting Thys in May 2010 and little did we know what lay ahead. After 17 hours of labour Thys was born at 2:30 in the morning on the 21/1/2011, but little did we know that this was only the beginning of a very different journey to the one we had planned.

Thys endured a 7 hour life saving surgury to reconnect his oesophagus as his was attached to his windpipe. He has what is known as a tracheoesophageal fistula/ oesophageal atreisia (Tof/OA). Thys had a very straight forward recovery and we left the hospital in a record breaking time of two weeks, but again Thys had other plans and stopped breathing 10 days later and again 2 weeks after that. All in all Thys has spent the majority of his life in hospital, all down to the Tof/OA complications.

Tof/oa children endure many surgical procedures , some more than others. They all have difficulties with eating, reflux, reacurring chest infections and various other complications. What causes Tofs is still unknown and yet it occurs in 1 in every 3500 .

Without the charity tofs many of these parents would have nowhere to turn and feel isolated in their unknown journeys, so please support us in raising awareness of tofs and help us keep tofs going to keep us parents sane knowing we are not alone.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
