The Quest begins at Biarritz on 5th Seprember 2010 and if successful I will arrive at Argeles-Plage on the Mediterranean Coast within six days having cycled 440miles over some of the major peaks in the Pyrenees such as the Col Du Tourmalet made famous by the Tour De France. At 2115 metres it is the most climbed mountain in Tour history. I will be celebrating my 61st birthday during the ride. It all started last year when I decided I wanted a challenge for my 60th and rode coast to coast across Britain on a tandem supported by friends and family. Inspired by this, I wanted to challenge myself even more this year. So my friend and training partner, Tony and I will be joining a group of 20 others from pyractif.com on the adventure. We have been training in the Peak and Lake District to be as prepared as we can be for the event. However, I have never been up a climb as high as the ones in the Pyrenees or cycled so far day after day for six days. Not knowing if I will achieve this task is part of the excitment and the support of the donations will inspire me. I will be paying all my expenses so all money donated will go to the charity Cancer Care. I believe that the quality our lives is very important. When someone is ill it can affect the ability to enjoy life for them and their family. I believe Cancer Care perform a vital role in inhancing the quality of life at a vital time. Please click onto the Cancer Care Link on the left of this page for further information on the help they provide. Special thanks for the support and understanding of our families during the long hours training.
