Hello and thanks for visiting our fundraising page. we're a bunch of like-minded friends who enjoy cycling and who are taking on the challenge of the Pyrenees in September. A Breton Bikes group did a similar trip in 2003, also for charity, and there are some in the group who can only be persuaded to climb cols (mountain passes) by making it a fundraising event! We have chosen Macmillan Cancer Support because few people have not been touched by cancer, either themselves or in famly or friends. Macmillan not only fund doctors and nurses but also provide advice and support to patients and their families.They give information about benefits and in some cases offer financial support
So to the Pyrenees - the trip takes place in Sept 2010 starting in Toulouse. It will be hard work from the outset as we head for the mountains. Our first climb will be our longest over the Pailheres at 2001m. This will be followed by up to 9 more cols, sometimes 2 in a day. A fortnight from Toulouse finds us finishing where we started. Oh, just in case you think that sounds easy, we don't have any back-up - we carry all our own camping equipment!
