Story

I am raising money on behalf of Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team as a thank you for their help after my fiance Karen Parker was involved in a hillwalking accident on the 24th of August 2011.

We were hill walking on Càrn Mòr Dearg on the ascent to Ben Nevis when Karen slipped and fell 50 metres into Coire Leis. Karen was unconscious and suffered lacerations to her head and arms, extensive bruising as well as two broken ankles.

The emergency services were contacted and Rescue 137 from RAF Lossiemouth was launched and uplifted members of the Lochaber MRT on the way. Within around an hour and a half of her accident Karen was being attended to by the Winchman and MRT members before she was whisked away to Belford Hospital in Fort William.

I am happy to say that Karen has now recovered enough to return to work but will require more operations in the future. Lochaber Mountain Rescue is manned by unpaid volunteers who put their own lives at risk to save others and your contribution will go some way in allowing them to continue this fantastic, unselfish work.
