We provide social support to Scotland's Cystic Fibrosis Community

Story

Would just like to thank everyone who has sponsored me and for all the support and well wishes. There is still plenty of time to sponsor me or just pass on our story to raise awareness. xxx

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  Hi my name is Rachel and im hopeing to raise awareness about Cystic Fibrosis and raise funds for a charity in Scotland, (THE BUTTERFLY TRUST) who help support families living with the condition.

I have arranged to shave my hair off with the support of a local ladies hair salon called MAYFAIR in my home town Alloa on the 31/03/2010. I have also done a pre shave publicity drive in the local n scottish national papers  and will be doing another after the event to show people i went through with it lol to hopefully again raise more awareness and funds.

I have also been in contact with The Little Princess Trust who donate real hair wigs to children suffering from hair loss and they have said they will be happy to take my hair to be made into a wig. :)

I have an 8yr old daughter called Katie who was only diagnosed with CF on the 8th Jan 2009.

Cystic Fibrosis is the UK,s most common genetically inherited , life limiting condition. They say there is a life expectancy that is very short but with todays medical research advances and living proof of the people with CF living much longer there is definate hope and  hopefully a cure.

Cystic Fibrosis is a desease of the cells that effects the body,s salt levels. It shows itself in many ways , mostly effecting the lungs, pancreas and digestive system coating everything in a thick sticky mucus that  is very hard to clear and can become infected very quickly. Every CF person is different but they all share the same story of inspiration n hope.

But im not doing this for the bigger picture but for the people who need support on a more personal level and that is where THE BUTTERFLY TRUST can help.

Since first coming into contact there help has been invaluable. They have helped me fill in government forms,  and financial assistance, they  have also helped me secure a grant to buy a condensing tumbledryer which helps reduces dampness in the air and the main cause of infections.  They also help in other ways Support/Advocacy, Befriending and Mentoring, Massage , Transport for hospital apps and oh yes dont forget neverending fundriasing :) lol

THANKYOU BUTTERFLY TRUST!!!!

I was never one for asking for help before now, and my mum did always say... If you dont ask you wont get!!!

So now im asking  all my family friends old and new to visit my justgiving page and donate for a very special cause that is so deep in my heart. You can find it on my profile page :)

What was once just a fleeting glance on the tv many years ago about a young blonde haired girl  laying on a bed having her chest physio  is now im my daily family life.  But im not saddned, im greatfull :). Katie would not be here today if not diagnosed when she was :)
