The University of Sheffield Big Walk, covering 286 miles in 15 days · 2 September 2015
On September the 2nd of September I am walking 286 miles on the Peninne Way over 15 days to raise money for Pulmonary Hypertension, which is a condition which affects blood pressure in the lungs. People often have a much shorter life with the condition often only living 1-5 years after diagnosis
My son was born 9 weeks premature and as a result has significant medical problems part of which is chronic lung problems. Over the years he has been under a number of medical consultants and thankfully he has had a good quality of life that has allowed him to attend school and achieve a good standard of academic results. Now aged 16 he now has aspirations of following his older brother in attending the University of Sheffield once he has completed his A Levels.
Progress in medical research has assisted in the treatments available to my son with great advancements made in the last 16 years. We now have the to support this research in order to save lives and better the quality of life of those affected.
