Story
I'm hosting a 70's night in Chamonix at the MOÖ bar on Sunday 31st March 2013 at 8:30pm to celebrate my 40th birthday and instead of gifts think it's a great opportunity to raise some money for research into Archie Strachan's condition. Please read the following explanation written by Jamie, Archie's dad. All of you either know or know of Jamie and Julia, longtime Chamonix residents who had to move away to a lower altitude in the UK for Archie's health.
"At the age of 2, Archie was diagnosed with a debilitating degenerative disease called pulmonary hypertension. It effects one in 3 million. Archie is now 5 years old and he has had many challenges since his diagnosis. He is heavily medicated and is un able to do many of the things normal children do. He cannot go to school because the risk of infection. He has had to deal with alot in his short life and we are determined to make his life better. The prognosis for Archie is poor and the only option for him at this stage is a lung transplant. There is no telling if this will come for him as there are so few donors at his age and blood type. We are determined to find a cure for this disease and we are supporting a team of scientists at Cambridge University who just might hold the key to saving Archie and many others from the suffering they endure.
Through the PHA UK, we are setting up a fund that will go directly to the laboratory of prof Nick Morel at Cambridge. He and his team of 12 scientists are working to crack the complex cell pathways associated with PH. We believe that they are closing in on a possible cure and certainly a more effective treatment for PH sufferers. We would like to ask you for your support to fund the research team at Cambridge in the quest for a cure for Pulmonary Hypertension!
With thanks and best wishes,
Jamie"
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, please give whatever you can, kind regards
Richard
