In late 2011 my brother, Rifleman Shane Sykes, deployed to Afghanistan on operational tour as part of the largest infanrtry regiment The Rifles. This was when I decided that I wanted to do something to raise money for the Rifles chosen charity 'The Rifles Regimental Trust'. So after looking at lots of events I decided to enrol for Stowe Triathlon which consists of an 750m open water swim, 26k cycle and a 5k run....eeeeeek lol.

The Rifles Regimental Trust or Care for Casualties is an appeal that gives the severely wounded, their families and the families of fallen Riflemen the support, the inspiration and the means to rebuild their lives and make the best of their futures. The Rifles have seen almost continuous action in Iraq & Afghanistan, this commitment has come at a cost.....59 Riflemen Killed in Action and over 300 with serious injuries including 29 who have lost limbs. Care for Casualties isn’t just about money, they also need offers of help in kind such as holidays, advice, jobs and training which can inspire self sufficiency and hope.

Shane returns from tour later on in the year and has at home a very proud family including the love and support from his own little family consisting of his beautiful fiancee and his two little ones. Shane along with every other serving member of the armed forces display courage, valor and determination every day and I hope you will do what you can in supporting me in this worthwhile cause.
