RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour search and rescue service all around the UK and Ireland, while lifeguards keep a careful watch on the UK’s busiest beaches. RNLI lifesaving and drowning prevention depend on supporter fundraising and the generous donations that you and others give.

Story

The RNLI has no single, public memorial at which to remember its volunteers - not even the 438 crew members who have died saving lives at sea.  I want to do my bit to generate the funds necessary to build a lasting RNLI tribute.

Departing from Poole on 31 August, I plan to spend my summer holiday cycling about 60 miles every day to make it to Rome by the target date of 23 September - ensuring I am back at my desk in time for work the following week!

Three friends will be sharing my challenge and will also raise money for the RNLI memorial project.

Thanks very much for your support.
