RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour search and rescue service all around the UK and Ireland, while lifeguards keep a careful watch on the UK’s busiest beaches. RNLI lifesaving and drowning prevention depend on supporter fundraising and the generous donations that you and others give.

Story

I am a 3rd generation volunteer Helmsman for the RNLI at Withernsea, East Yorkshire.  I have been on the crew since 2004, joining when I was 17.

Previously, my Father had served on the crew for an incredible 27 years and is now the current Lifeboat Operations Manager at Withersea. He joined in 1977 following in the footsteps of my Grandfather who was part of the original crew when the station was re-established in Withernsea in 1974, meaning that since 1974, there has always been an active crewman from my family ready to save lives at sea. The family connection doesn't end there however, as my Grandmother was a well known fundraiser for our lifeboat,  and my Godfather is a current Deputy Launch Authority after a career on the crew at Withernsea.

Even though the RNLI is an emergency service, it is also a charity and receives no Government funding. So please sponsor/donate as much as you can as every penny goes towards kitting our crews, maintaining our boats, and ultimately saving lives at sea.
