Pondboy & Carcher's Round the UK coastline Trip
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor us through the online link below.
There are 164 RNLI stations on the UK mainland coast, all of which need financial support to enable them to purchase the gear they require and cover the running costs needed to maintain the excellent service they provide. It costs them:-
£17 A pair of gloves for a lifeboat crewmember
£28 A personal flare pack
£38 A pair of crewmember's boots
£88 A thermal suit
£176 A safety helmet
£500 A lifejacket for our all-weather lifeboat crew
so every pound that you can donate will help ensure that crewmembers are properly equipped to carry out their duties.
All the money we raise is going specifically into the RNLI "Train a Hero" fund to help train new crew members so they can work on their lifeboats effectively and safely.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: RNLI - Royal National Lifeboat Institution will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor us now!
You can follow our planning and preparations for the trip on our website pages. http://www.thewatermargin.com/RNLItrip.htm
The trip is scheduled to take place from 12th May to 28th May 2005. It will cover over 4,000 miles and will take around 16 days in the saddle to complete.
I will be riding my BMW F650GS (aka Mellow Yellow) and Carcher will be riding his BMW F650 Dakar. Being a single cylinder 650cc machines, they have good low down power, handle well, are economical to run and have a relaxed riding postion. All of which makes them an ideal bikes for such a tortuous journey.
During the trip, we will be posting updates on the journey as well as pictures of the places we visit. We will be pleased to take pictures of any coastal locations of particular interest to you and forward them to you via email if you let us know what you would like.
Many thanks for your support.
