Story

We all made it!! I am delighted to announce that the whole team (including myself) made it to Uhuru peak (5,895 metres or 19,343 feet) up in the thin African air between 8 and 9am on Saturday August 7th 2010.

Kilimanjaro is an often under-estimated mountain that deserves and definitely earns your respect as you go up it. Our expedition lasted for 8 days and culminated in the hardest, longest, and toughest day that I have ever experienced  Starting at midnight on Friday we climbed the final 1,295 metres up to the summit at 5,895 metres in over 7 to 8 hours and then descended back down to sleep at 3,100 metres, a trip that took over 17 hours in total.  We had to overcome problems of acclimatisation which involved headaches, sickness and extreme cold. 100% summit success for a team on Kilimanjaro is very rare and statistically only 50% of the many people that attempt Kili make it to the top.

I just want to thank you once again. Together with your help, we have raised around 70.000 Euros for Schools Around the World and raised the profile of the charity once again.

Many many thanks

Regards

Rob
