STONEYGATE SCHOOL - RUN AROUND PERU CURRENT TOTAL : 6,137 MILES (updated 3/2/2012) We've done it! On Friday 3rd February the whole school ran/walked a symbolic final mile as a relay.  All the children were stretched out over the mile long cross country course and they passed a baton around from person to person.  It was quite chaotic, but also good fun as, despite the cold, the children were all in high spirits. Many thanks go to all the parents who supported the event.     Over the coming year the children, staff and parents are raising money for a small charity called 'Amantani'.  This charity supports children in a remote part of Peru.  They have established a number of boarding houses that enable the local children to get a proper education.  Prior to this the children faced a long walk to and from home every day. Our first fundraising challenge is the 'Run Around Peru'. Collectively, we are trying to run or walk the 6,137 miles around the border of Peru.  Everyone is keeping a record of how many miles they have contributed to the total and they hope to be able to raise £1 for every mile that they cover.
