Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page
I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in September 2005, and to mark my 5th anniversary I thought it would be a good idea to throw myself out of a plane at 12000ft to help raise valuable funds for an MS charity!!!! First some facts and figures that you may or may not know about MS: · MS affects 100,000 in the UK alone - making it the most common disabling neurological disease among young adults · Diagnosis most often occurs between the ages of 20-40 · Women are almost twice as likely to develop it as men · The cause of MS is unknown and at present there is no cure The BrAMS clinic is based in Bristol, and is involved in both patient care and undertakes valuable research into what I can only describe as a most unpredictable medical condition. This unit provides me and people across the South West with support 24/7 and are always happy to talk to not only MS sufferers but their families as well, which has definitely proved invaluable for me over the last 4-5 months, following my latest relapse. I was originally planning to do this jump earlier this year, but proving the point of MS being unpredictable I was in hospital at the time due to my relapse! I’m now recovering well with a lot of support from my friends, family, doctors, consultants, MS nurses, physiotherapists... the list is ever growing, and I’d like to give something back, and I hope you can help to do this. Please note that Shine Together is the name for the registered charity on JustGiving, however, all funds raised for this SkyDive will go to BrAMS.
Further information on the work and support that the BrAMS clinic do can be found at http://brams.org.uk/
Thank you xxx
