This year I have decided to do something crazy……….

I have agreed to do the Race to the Stones - a 100km walk over 2 days across the Ridgeway in the Chilterns in July. This challenge will involve covering a distance of approximately 31 miles each day over cross country terrain – hopefully with a large G&T and a  bowl of warm water waiting for my aching feet at the end of both days. 

YES - that's a very long way and NO - I've never done anything remotely like it before so YES - I could be described as crazy! 

BUT -  I am doing this to support a charity called NOWZAD DOGS so its worth all the aches, pains and blisters and more!

 

In the last few years, some heart warming stories have emerged about stray dogs that have befriended British and American soldiers posted to Afghanistan. These dogs have offered love, companionship and a few moments of sanity in exchange for scraps of food and warmth to young men and women miles from home in one of the harshest warzones of modern times.

Like many british dogs, mine live a pampered life of comfort with regular meals and walks, and an endless supply of cuddles. It's a life that I believe EVERY dog should have, and it breaks my heart to hear how very far from that the dogs of Afghanistan are. 

Nowzad are working hard to leave a legacy in Afghanistan that will change the lives of stray dogs in that country. What better reason do I have for completing my crazy challenge?
