Charity Challenge Trek to Machu Picchu · 29 September 2012

Together with our supporters, Barts Charity is there for patients and families in East London – through it all. We support pioneering research and the wellbeing of our brilliant NHS staff. We help to refurbish wards and provide Barts Health hospitals with the very best equipment.

Story

We all know someone who has had cancer. For me it was my Dad who died too early at the age of 58

In his memory I've decided to trek to Machu Picchu in the Peruvian Andes for Barts and the London Charity next year - specifically to fundraise for the Cancer Centre. I am hoping that this will help others who are suffering from this dreadful disease and aid cancer research.

I am also doing this to support my friend Sam who was treated at St Barts for leukaemia and is now in remission and who is doing this trek.

On a personal level this is a huge personal challenge. Some years ago I was diagnosed with an extrememly virulent Reactive Arthritis, the result of which was that for many months I could only walk a short distance with the aid of crutches. At times I was not sure whether I'd be able to walk again, let alone trek up a mountain!

So please dig deep and help me in the fight against cancer.Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
