I'm one of the 14 strong team planning to relay-swim the English Channel next week.  

It's part of an Industry Leader challenge where my boss, Jeremy has "encouraged" a few of us to join him in raising funds for BEN - which provides support to those employed by, and related to the Automotive Industry, in times of need. 

The challenge itself involves two teams of us, each swimming one hour at a time across the 21 mile wide English Channel. History would suggest that it'll take anything between two and five stints each in the water (depending on the tide and the waves on the day - or night!?!) to get across.

I've done lots of training - but with the exception of a few (very pleasant) sea swims whilst on my holidays - the lion's share of it has been made up of lengths, staring at the black line, at the bottom of my local pool.

The cold conditions are going to be my biggest challenge - because the very strict channel crossing rules won't allow wetsuits - so it's a cozzie, a standard swim hat and a pair of goggles plus lots of team encouragement and determination that will get us all into the water.

Our team ambition is to raise £160,000 and we're already well on the way. Every £ counts and any sponsorship that you're able to pledge would be very, very much appreciated.
