Bupa Great North Run 2012 · 16 September 2012 ·

For 45 years we’ve led the way in supporting autistic and neurodivergent individuals, and their families, across the North East of England. We work to create a society where autism is understood and accepted, inclusion is the norm, and autistic people can lead fulfilled lives.

3 days to go... Thank you to everyone for your support and for donating your hard earned pennies :) xxx

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page! As most of you will know I have a phobia of exercise so this is a big challenge for me, and I'm determined to do everyone, including my charity proud!

Please dig deep and help me to achieve my goal and make a big contribution towards the work of NE-AS.

If any of you want to come along to cheer me around the course on the day it will be great to see you there - I will need all the support I can get!!

Rachael xx

Autism is a serious, lifelong and disabling condition. Without the right support, it can have a profound - sometimes devastating - effect on individuals and families.

Autism is much more common than many people think. There are over half a million people in the UK with autism - that's around 1 in 100. If you include their families, autism touches the lives of over two million people every day.

Autism doesn't just affect children. Children with autism grow up to be adults with autism.

Autism is a hidden disability - you can't always tell if someone has it.

While autism is incurable, the right support at the right time can make an enormous difference to people's lives.

Over 40% of children with autism have been bullied at school

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
