Year of madness · 7 August 2010

The Great Generation is an international charity which works closely with local organisations to identify volunteer projects that are community-driven and tackle real needs. Projects last two weeks and involve a team of volunteers whose skills, experiences and enthusiasm enable them to achieve a huge amount in a short time.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

For reasons long forgotten, I have committed myself to one triathlon, two half-marathons and some 10ks sprinkled in for good measure - all taking place between now and October.

Rather than lots of interim fundraising, i am going for the full sweep and would like to ask you to sponsor me for my 'Autumn of Madness'!

I am raising money for Kawempe Home Care - a charity based in Uganda. I recently spent two weeks working with KHS in Uganda, helping develop their business model and providing key business skills training, so the charity is very close to my heart. KHC provides vital medical care to HIV, AIDS, cancer and TB patients in Kampala, but also works with these patients to help them become self-sufficient, for example providing grands to help patients set up small business ventures such as market stalls and pig-rearing.

You can find out more about KHC by visiting www.kawempehomecare.org. The donation will be taken via The Great Generation, who work closely with KHC and help support by facilitating volunteer projects (such as the project I worked on).

Thanks for your help - this is a small charity with no marketing budget and a real opportunity to make a genuine difference.
