I made it! First of all thank you all for your generous support. It certainly did help me get to the finish line, especially during the undulations of the Cap d'Antibes! I don't think that the Bruce Springsteen song 'Born to Run' is a particularly good theme tune for me, but I was pleased with my time of 4 hours 11 mins. I have to say that I enjoyed pretty much every minute, but that said I don't think I'll be signing up for another in the near future.
Thank You Again!

On Sunday 8th November 2009 I will be running the Nice to Cannes marathon. Don't ask me why (perhaps a looming 40th birthday has something to do with it?) . And certainly don't ask me how long it takes! My aim is to cross the finish line in one piece and not to be last!
With only 1 week to go and plenty of hard training runs behind me, I am finally beginning to believe that I can do this. It has also dawned on me that I really ought not to put myself through this pain for nothing. So I have decided to create a JustGiving page and see if any of my family and friends out there would be kind enough to give me a litte extra incentive to complete the 42.195 kilometres (or 26.2 miles - it sounds shorter!).
The Pilgrims Hospice is my charity of choice (www.pilgrimshospice.org). My mum is a volunteer for the Thanet Hospice and I know that the organisation does an amazing and difficult job.
Any amount will make a difference, so don't be shy. It will certainly help me to put my best foot forward on Sunday morninng!
