Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Those of you who know me well will probably be surprised to see that I have taken up running-I am too! It possibly make more sense when I explain that I was entered unknowingly by some good friends at the start of 2014! As time has progressed and with plenty of encouragement from family and friends, it seems as if it is no longer an impossible task.

I would like to run in the memory of a very good friend, Helen Carroll, who sadly died in March 2014 . She had received treatment from The Christie Hospital in Manchester during her illness with inflammatory breast cancer and had raised money for their trust as recently as autumn 2013 when she & James ran The Great North Run despite her ongoing treatment.

So many of us miss Helen and send our love to her wonderful husband, her beautiful little daughter and her family. We met in our first term at medical school in 1992 and she became a great friend, a housemate, a godmother to our eldest daughter & ultimately, an inspiration.
