Little Hearts Matter is a national charity offering support and information to anyone affected by the devastating diagnosis of a single ventricle heart condition, children born with half a working heart. We work to support and raise awareness of the needs of these children and their families.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am supporting Little Hearts Matter because of the help they gave us when our first child, Peter, was diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome in February 2005.  I was 20 weeks pregnant when we found out after a routine scan, and he was given a 50:50 chance of surviving after birth.  HLHS basically means that only half the heart has developed in the womb.  A 3-stage surgery can provide altered circulation to enable a child to cope with it but it isn't suitable for all children and it carries very high risks.

The surgery wasn't appropriate for Peter.  He had a different operation but died at eleven days old from pulmonary hypertension as a result of his small heart.

Nearly eight years on from Peters death we have three more children, two of whom also had (very minor) heart defects but are now fully healthy.

Please help me to raise money to support this charity which offers advice, information and support to other families who are in the position we were in eight years ago.
