As a musician I couldn’t
help but notice the never-ending enthusiasm of the
African Children’s Choir, assembled by the mission organisation ‘
Music for life’. I have volunteered to work with the choir for one year. During my service to the choir I will be working
with the choir on tour as the music
supervisor/chaperone.
What is Music
for life, and who are the African Children’s Choir?
Music
for life Christian Charity
Music For Life Institute provides general relief and care in Africa with a
focus on children's programs. They bring care and relief to different regions,
presenting the good news of the gospel to the different groups of peoples which
they encounter.
The organization
also brings children from Africa to the US for training and care integrated
with a touring program. One of
Music For Life Institute's main
programs is the
African Children's Choir. The
African Children's Choir
is made up of some of the neediest and most vulnerable children in their countries.
The
African
Children's Choir helps these children break away from the everyday
cycle of poverty and hopelessness. While touring with the Choir, the children
are exposed to a world of new possibilities. After returning to Africa, the
children receive a
quality education, leadership training and spiritual ministry
at the
Music for Life Primary School at well-equipped schools in their
respective countries.
The African’s Children’s Choir
The
African Children’s Choir™
has been helping Africa’s most vulnerable children since 1984. The choir is made up of some of the neediest
and most vulnerable children in their countries. Many have lost one or both
parents to poverty or disease. The
African Children’s Choir™ helps
these children break away from the everyday cycle of poverty and hopelessness.
Before being selected
to join the Choir, children, generally aged between 7 and 11 attend
Music for Life camps. These camps are fun and stimulating
environments that provide a break from the daily hardships the young children
face at home.
