The other friend, someone who is as close to my heart as my husband, and someone who I have known as long, has recently had his Stem Cell Transplant, so we all await the results of that.

Karen also has had a friend go through treatment for Lymphoma and has come through the treatment and is now free of the cancer. Hence she has been brave enough to join me in this venture.

Now we know we could have thrown ourselves out of a plane, off a cliff, walked from one end of the country to the other but all these things I felt didn't, for me, make enough of a statement about what we were doing and more importantly why!

I strongly feel that Lymphoma does not get the same high profile as other cancers, especially Breast Cancer, so I want to help raise the awareness of this cancer.

There are at least 61 types of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, Lymphoma being the most common blood cancer and is the third most common cancer in children.

Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma is the most common cancer of the Lymphatic System.

Non-Hodgkin lymphoma is broadly divided into two major groups: B-cell lymphomas (which develop from abnormal B-lymphocytes, which is most common), and T-cell lymphomas (which develop from abnormal T-lymphocytes). Lymphocytes are a type of white blood cell that helps the body fight infections. B-cells develop into plasma cells that produce antibodies to fight infections, while T-cells attack foreign invaders (bacteria, viruses, etc.)

We have currently raised a very cool £1800 ish and hope very much now to break the £2,000 barrier.
