Story
The centre does a magnificent job and is open for people as young as five and upwards, with all kinds of disabilities. Here they can learn different physical and mental skills and even gain work experience. Some of the services they provide is free and are not available from local authorities or commercial organisations. So they need and welcome all the help they can get.
To that end please sponsor me to jump off (with the aid of a very good rope) the UK’s tallest sculpture, the ARCELORMITTAL ORBIT!
A bit about the farm :
Formed in 1986 to address the considerable benefits for people with disabilities and special needs to be had from contact with animals and plants. It is possible for them to not only derive considerable proven therapeutic benefit but also to develop skills, get education, get work experience and reach personal targets with a sense of personal achievement in so doing.
In 2018 Bill Gray, took a group of us to provide some muscle and some extra hands to assist the varied and endless list of jobs that are needed to keep them not just working but a good place to be.
The farm's aim is to enable disadvantaged people gain proven and measurable benefits through becoming more physically active and engaged through farm work and interaction with animals and nature. Where: Our 7 acre purpose built site near Heathrow Airport provides many activities in a safe non judgemental environmentActivities: Tailored to suit individual abilities and needsOutcomes: measurable and recorded. An example is horse riding lessons where initial fear is always overcome and the benefit achieved by the rider is very clear
