Story

Thankyou for taking the time to view my page...

As some of you will know, my lovely Mum (Lynn) was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumour in May 2000. She had treatment over the years including radio therapy and chemo therapy. She faced her illness head on, and battled all the way...but sadly her battle ended on 18th March 2010 when she died.

I struggled to deal with Mum's illness and death as we were always so close, and decided to put my emotion into raising some money in her memory. I had never been a runner, but decided to try and enter the 2010 London Marathon which took place in April - only a month after she died. I managed to complete the run in 04:36:22. I was over the moon. I raised £4200 in total for Help The Hospices. I thought it was an amazing experience.

So here I am, almost 2 years later, entering the 2012 London Marathon. This year I aim to raise at least £2500 for Brain Tumour UK, a charity close to my heart. They are currently researching at their lab in the University of Wolverhampton, and I hope to visit the lab soon to see first hand the work that they are doing to help find a cure/prevent brain tumours. They are becoming more common, and I hope that other people will not have to suffer in the future like my Mum did.

This time I feel that my fundraising will be harder, and the run itself will be 10 times harder. Adrenaline and emotion carried me through the 26.2 miles last time, but I am determined to do this in Mum's memory.

Any donations on my page would be greatly appreciated. I need all the help I can get this year!

Thankyou,

Rachel Precious
