I decided to run every day in January for the charity mind as it a charity that means something to me.
All my life I've suffered with one form or another of depression and anxiety. I suffered most in my early twenties and after I had my first child. I was fortunate enough that my family, friends and later my husband supported me and got me the treatment needed and picked me up. Without them I don't know what I would have done.
When I had my second child I was determined not to let myself fall into a hole again so I threw myself into exercise which had been advise to me. I started exercising 6 months after my first was born and I noticed a huge difference to How I felt. So a few months after having my second child I started to power walk then run pushing my girls in the double buggy! I got some funny looks and comments but I wasn't going to stop. I now have a proper double running buggy so my girls are very secure and aren't being thrown around corners! (For those of you with concerns.
Mental health isn't spoken about enough and people are scared to talk about it. For the person suffering it's a scary place to be and you brush it aside trying to make everyone around you believe you are fine, when actually you are pushing them away. Many people know my story, it's not something I'm proud of, but it's not something I wouldn't talk about if asked.
Today I am truly happy and totally content with my life. I mess up like everyone from time to time, but I've got a loving husband, 2 beautiful little girls, wonderful friends and family which is why I am now in a position to raise money for a charity close to my heart.
I will try and keep this page updated with my journey, but my aim is to run 5k pushing my girls in the buggy Monday - Friday, do a 10k run on a Wednesday evening, then 5-10k on a Saturday and Sunday with or without the buggy.
Thank you in advance for your support x
