ACT is taking the fight to cancer. We aim to provide education and information that help owners, the veterinary profession and all who care for our pets understand more about cancer and what treatments are possible.

Story

I am doing a 84 mile walk along the path of Hadrian's Wall. I will be doing this walk with my dog Zeus. We will be covering this entire route in 8 days.

I have chosen to raise funds for Animal Cancer Trust (UK) and for Canine Cancer Research (USA). My reason for chosing these charities is that I lost my beloved dog Nikita to nasal cancer in July 2011. She was 12 years old and had a good life but until the cancer came along she was as healthy as could be. She would have easily lasted at least a few more years if the cancer had been curable.

We are going to be doing this walk the first week of October 2012. This date is subject to change though on account of the weather. My walking partner, Zeus, is a 18 month old Malamute/Husky cross so if the weather is too warm we will have to delay the walk until it cools down. Octobers can be quite warm but hopefully the weather will behave and we won't have to change the dates.

We will be posting regarding our training days leading up to the walk and throughout the walk. I will include pictures of the stunning scenery that we will encounter along the way. This is the page for our blog: http://rachnzeuswalk.blogspot.co.uk/

All monies raised through this site will go to Animal Cancer Trust (UK). I have another page set up here,  http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/Rachel-Todd3/84milewalkforcaninecancerresearch , the monies raised on that page will go to Canine Cancer Research (USA). All monies raised offline will be split equally between the two charities
