Ipswich Half Marathon · 29 August 2010

We care for children & young people with life-threatening conditions across Cambs, Essex, Norfolk & Suffolk and support their families. This can be at home, in hospital or at one of three hospices at Milton, The Treehouse and The Nook. We rely on voluntary donations for the majority of our income.

Story

WHAT?

On a not so sunny day in May we decided that we should extend our new found fitness regime with a little madness and signed ourselves up on the spur of the moment to do the Ipswich Half Marathon, with only 15 weeks to train for it.

We have been assured that this is not the easiest of half marathons, even though everyone who does not live here believes Suffolk is flat, it is deceptively hilly.

WHY?

EACH’s hospice in Ipswich was opened in 1999 and as a pilot project and demand has increased so much over this time that they have simply outgrown it. EACH were very generously donated a four acre plot of land on which they have obtained planning permission for a new 6 bed roomed hospice. They have just launched The Treehouse Appeal to raise the £3million required to be able to build it and need everybody’s help to make this much needed project come to life. This exciting project will enable EACH to provide more care to more families throughout Suffolk and North Essex so please help me to make the new hospice a reality.

As our training is likely to take us past the building site on a nearly daily basis we are keen to raise as much as we can to get it finished so please give generously.
