In memory of Jan Lucas

The Heart Circle supports children undergoing cardiac care at the Bristol Children's Hospital, and their families. It covers an area from Cornwall to South Wales. The charity provides support from parents who have had similar experiences, social events, a caravan for short breaks and equipment to make the children's lives easier.

Story

Anybody who knows me well, will know how much of a wimp I am. Anything remotely scary, dirty, and involving any general physical exercise will send me running for the hills. So I've decided to test myself by doing numerous activities and events through the year. Firstly; BUNGEE JUMPING! I'm also planning to walk the length of Hadrian's Wall later in the summer, and depending on how generous you all are, I might try and do some other things which I will find generally horrendous! The point of me doing this is to not only prove to myself I can do it, but also to raise money for a cause close to my heart. The South West Children's Heart Circle not only help raise funds for life saving equipment which is not within the NHS budget, but they also provide vital support for the families of children who are undergoing treatment for heart related illnesses. Whether it's a place to stay whilst at the hospital, or a friend to talk to, their main concern is the welfare of BOTH the child and the family. Whilst some treatment is planned, often families are left without clothes, money or a place to stay when their child has been rushed into hospital; SWCHC provide these parents with accomodation, food and comfort which is invaluable in times like these. The support they have provided my own family in the past has been incomparable, so I guess this is my own little way of trying to say thank you. Any donation would be gratefully recieved, and just think, you're not only giving money to a worthwhile cause but also encouraging me to do more stupid things which will make me cry like a baby - priceless! Thank You :) x
