We need your help to bring the future of medical imaging to Sheffield.

Story

Matt Carre and Rachel Tomlinson are taking part in The Big
Walk 2018, a walking challenge on 22 June – a 26.2 marathon distance Peak District walk starting in Lodge Moor on the edge of Sheffield, heading out to the Peak District and ending on the University campus. Rachel managed half of the Big Walk 2017, but was recovering from Whooping Cough and would really like to go a bit faster this time!

Why would we do this? we are raising funds towards the University’s £2 million fundraising campaign for the Sheffield Scanner - a ground-breaking MRI-PET scanner facility, and the first of its kind in Yorkshire (www.sheffield.ac.uk/sheffieldscanner). The Sheffield Scanner will represent the next leap forward in medical and imaging research and have a crucial role for research and patients in many areas of medicine, including cancer, neurodegenerative diseases such as Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, heart disease, diabetes and strokes.
Further information about the Sheffield Scanner Fundraising campaign can be found at www.sheffield.ac.uk/sheffieldscanner
