Hi amazing friends!
Welcome to my new page! For those of you who so generously supported my first ever run just over a year ago, the BUPA 10k in 2008 thanks so much again! Your support meant the world to me and also the wonderful women who were the recipients of your kindness and generosity!
Since that memorable day alot has happenned...I have kept running and have now just finished my first marathon. In Berlin. On Sunday 20th September in a time of 4:00:53. Yes it was painful but such an incredible experience!!!
Perhaps more exciting than the above though are my plans with up to 20 friends to travel to Uganda in December and work with an amazing charity called Watoto (you can check them out online at www.watoto.com). Which is why I have set myself the rather ambitious target of running 100 km in total, through 4 different runs. I am almost half way having done Berlin on Sunday! In summary: -
Watoto provide holistic, residential care for orphaned and vulnerable children with the core vision to rescue a Child, build a Leader, and rebuild a Nation. Through the generosity of people from all over the world, Watoto has given life and HOPE to many children. 'Villages of Hope' with homes, schools, and medical clinics have been built. A Watoto babies home was opened in 2007. In 2008 the vision extended to war-affected Gulu (Northern Uganda) embracing the plight of child soldiers and vulnerable women. Future plans include another babies home and the building a brand new children's hospital.
Our team is aiming to raise £25 000 collectively which will fund some of the construction of a new babies home and a few other projects...
