Story

In Ramadhan, a small team of fundraisers joined together and took part in the Race to Jannah. For 30 days they promoted their JustGiving pages by any means - on WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, some even making videos and getting their parents involved in the fundraising. For many of the participants, the target seemed daunting; indeed some had never fundraised before. But with sincere intentions, du'a and the help of Allah they made it. Within 48 hours, people who had never fundraised prior to this, managed to collect £1000. They made images, they made videos; they reached out to friends and family, all in aid of some of the most vulnerable families in the UK.

And with their efforts they were able to raise an amazing total of £67,714!

With Dhul Hijjah around the corner, the Race to Jannah picks up speed as we are presented with another opportunity – even greater in virtue than Ramadhan, in which we are encouraged to do good:

The Prophet ﷺ said, “There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days.” The people asked, “Not even Jihad for the sake of Allah?” He said, “Not even Jihad for the sake of Allah, except in the case of a man who went out, giving himself and his wealth up for the cause (of Allah), and came back with nothing.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari]

Often overlooked, these first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah are in fact better than the last 10 days of Ramadhan (with the last 10 nights of Ramadhan being better than the first 10 nights of Dhul Hijjah)!

So this Dhul Hijjah, we ask you, to do your best and make an effort to raise £100 a day. In order to do this you will have full support of the HHUGS team who will you promotional materials and fundraising tips throughout the process. All it takes is letting your friends and family that you need 10 of them to donate £10.

And if £100 seems daunting, then we ask you to raise just £10 a day, so £100 over the whole of the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah.

If neither £100 or £1000 suits you, you can set your own target above £100 - £250, £500 or £2000.

And if after you put in the effort, all the hard work, you aren't able to reach your target, then do not despair. As long you put in sincere effort, then you will be rewarded for your intention!  So it’s a win-win situation!

So what is stopping you joining?
