On Sunday 19 July I will be running 10km at this year's Partnership Walk and Run to be held at Regent's Park. I will be raising money for the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF), a charity that I have had a long affiliation with and that aims to develop sustainable solutions to long-term problems of poverty, hunger, illiteracy and poor health in the third world. All funds raised from this event will directly go to support health, education and rural development programmes in India, Kyrgyz Republic and Madagascar.
Its probably not much of a surprise to any of you that I haven't done much in the way of exercise in the last few years, and so training for the run has come as a bit of a shock to the system - something that those in the office will have had the misfortunate to experience first hand!! So thanks to all of you have supported me in my training so far, in particular Lucy, Lydia and Katie for letting me slow them down on their lunch time runs!!
I am aiming to raise at least £1,000 for AKF and to aid me, those nice people at Barclays have agreed to match £ 4 £ the sponsorship money I raise up to £750. So please dig deep and help make this ordeal worth while!
Many thanks for your support!
Rahim
