Story

The key to doing great things lay not in believed oneself to be great, but instead by seeing the greatness in others.

I am no Roger Bannister, nor am I a Daniel Komen, in any right or form. The two being famous long-distance runner that I found after a brief Google search "FAMOUS LONG-DISTANCE RUNNERS". What I have found, however, is that telling somebody that I can, should, and WILL run a half marathon is no small matter. It is a testament to human obstinance that one will push oneself above and beyond what is believed possible of them, for the sole reason of proving somebody wrong.

In this case, that person is myself. A few years ago, I desperately needed to stop while running a measly 5 kilometer race. I would not have believed it possible to complete the race, let alone one over four times the length. But, I pushed on, from boot to muddy boot I stepped on, and I finished that race. True, I did not win any prizes, but after that I came to realize that given enough incentive, I would not stop.

The Haileybury Youth Trust opens the door to countless Ugandans by providing sustainable development, schooling, and health. Every pound donated is another pound towards giving Ugandan children and adults with the skills they need to develop towards a utopian future.

I will be training at least 3 times a week, as well as controlling diet and nutrition (or at least try to, I'm no nutritionist). Every donation means that another person sees the greatness in me, and trusts my ability to run. If at the end of my training only a couple dozen people have donated, that's a couple dozen people that tell me that I will not fail, and another couple dozen people I'll be thinking of as I take step, after step...

...after step...

...after step.
