I’m running the Great North Run for Rethink Mental Illness. I'm doing this in memory of my brother-in-law Nick Gascoigne who passed away in February 2013. Nick battled for many years with mental issues and alcohol addiction. Rethink provided him help and support over the years, this is my way of giving something back.

I also have the honour of being on team north led by Melanie C. Team north will be competing against Iwan Thomas's team south to see who is more generous the north or south.

I need a lot of support on this one! I haven’t run a half-marathon before, but if you’re going to run one why not start with one of the most iconic! Please show your support.
