I'm putting my passion for cycling to the test by taking part in the ultimate endurance cycle challenge for charity.  

I have signed up to take part in the London to Paris 24, which is organised annually by the disability charity Scope. Competitors in this gruelling event cover just over 280 miles by bike from London to Paris in less than 24 hours. 

I will set off from London at noon on 5th July 2014 and will pedal through the day and into the night in my attempt to reach the French capital the next day.  

By taking part, I hope to raise £2000 to support Scope,  a charity which provides support, advice and information to more than a quarter of a million disabled people and their family members every year.  

Why did I decide to take part, is a very very good question. I was sitting on the tube one dark and miserable November morning minding my own business reading the Metro as you do, then I noticed the advert London to Paris 24, I thought that is a fantastic challenge and what a great cause - that was it, signed up and now only 6 months to go!!!!!!. I'm delighted to be challenging myself and being able to help support the wonderful charity SCOPE.

For every £1 you give will be wisely used - PLEASE give whatever you can, every little helps: 

• 88p goes directly to our work with disabled people and their families
• 4p goes towards our governance and running costs
• 8p is invested to generate further income
