On Saturday 25 September I completed the marathon 10 hour, 120km ride from Roehampton to Hove taking every opportunity to keep off the roads. 

The weather was great but conditions were still muddy and slippery resulting in nearly every one of the 700 riders taking a tumble somewhere along the route – I saw three riders stretchered off to hospital!

The relief at reaching the end of the ride was immense as my energy levels and the power in my legs had reached their end too. I suffered two punctures and one fall into a hawthorn bush but despite these setbacks finished a couple of hours before the last of the riders limped home.

 It took all day Sunday to recover but today, Monday 27th,  I feel fine and currently the donations for taking part in the ride stand at around £300, so well worth it.
