Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have loved walking since I was a young lad. With friends and family I have been doing most of the national trails as well as some less well known walks. I normally walk for the fun of it - not for charity.
During August 2008 and 2009 I was walking a little known trek from Birmingham to Aberystwyth - each year wallking about 70 miles in a week. During these weeks two friends died; Bob Randall in 2008 and Rob Harley in 2009. Both were very charismatic energetic guys who were always great fun to be with. Attending their funerals meant I missed a leg of the walk in each year. In 2008 the crossing of Titterstone Clee near Ludlow and Rhayader to the Claerwen Dam in 2009.
In conjunction with their wives I have decided to walk these two sections this year on 7 and 8 August. As Bob died of heart problems and Robert of a brain tumour I feel it is appropriate to raise money to fund research into these diseases or to support one of their favourite charities.
The walks are each about 10 miles long with the first day starting at Hopton Wafers. We will transfer the 50 miles from Ludlow to Rhyader by road on Sunday morning.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
You see that I am raising funds for Brain Tumour UK. Trina's funds are going to Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust whilst Sandie Randall is donating to WaterAid - the charity Bob supported. If you would prefer to donate to one (or both) of these charities you can do so by going to either Trina's or Sandie's personnel pages on JustGiving (Hyper links in here if possible?)
So please dig deep and donate now.
