We offer expert care, guidance and support to people living with a terminal illness

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The Plan - To get fit, raise a boatload of money for the charity and complete the event.

The Charity -

Marie Cure provide free nursing care to cancer patients and those with other terminal illnesses in their own homes.

The Event - 5 days cycling covering roughly 250 miles in the soaring heat of Jordan

Day 1

We fly from London to Amman.

Day 2

We transfer to the outskirts of Amman for bike fitting and the start of our ride. We head east into the desert and cycle through the “Desert Castle Loop”. We'll ride past castles dating back several centuries including one used by Lawrence of Arabia. We stay overnight is Azraq.

Day 3

We cycle westwards leaving the desert for more fertile plains. The route is mainly on roads. We head towards Qasr Amra, the best preserved of all desert castles, and continue towards our overnight stop at Jiza.

Day 4

We continue cycling towards the Dead Sea, travelling past some of Jordan's most interesting sites. We will see Madaba, with its famous 6th Century mosaic, and continue to Mount Nebo, where historically Moses was shown the Promised Land. From there we have a downhill ride to the shores of the Dead Sea where we stay overnight.

Day 5

We start along the eastern shore of the Dead Sea, with views of Massada Fortress and the towering Edom Mountains. We have a tough climb to the 12th Century crusader castle of Krak. From here we transfer to the Dana National Park where we camp overnight in Bedouin tents.

Day 6

Cycling through the Dana Nature Reserve you'll catch glimpses of wild animals such as the Nubian Ibex, Golden Jackal or Red Fox as well as unusual plants and trees. We make our way to the village of Shawback, continuing along the cliffs towering above the Araba Valley and the Dead Sea Rift before joining the trekkers and horseriders to cross the finish line of our destination – the ancient city of Petra.

Day 7

We have a free day to explore Petra.

Day 8

We transfer to Amman for our return flight to London.

The cyclists -

Graham - Overweight, drinks too much and wants to make a change.

Rick - Old, drinks too much and wants to make a change

The Reason - At the moment we must be barking mad, and just look at the charity, nothing else needs to be explained.

So please dig deep and donate now,

Thank You
