Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

we have created this page at the request of our 8 year old son, Raphael.  He broke his arm a few weeks ago, and while we were travelling back from Fracture Clinic at the hospital, we heard a news report on the radio about the natural disasters that have happened in the Philippines, and how people are suffering as a result.  At the end of the story, he said "I want to raise some money to help those people". (Here is a story about another Rafael - we have not shared this with him, as it is too sad, but hope that you will be able to take a look http://www.dec.org.uk/appeals/philippines-typhoon-appeal/case-study/rafaels-story).

We had a thought, and because of his broken arm, ruled out many of the things that people usually do.  However, we hit on the idea of going Geocaching.  We had a look, and discovered a loop of approximately 25 caches over a 6 mile stretch of footpaths in the countryside near our town.

Raph says "I am raising funds to help people in the Philippines. There has been a terrible disaster where there was very strong wind which did bad damage and killed quite a few people and I want to help. Don't worry about my arm. The reason why I chose Geocaching is because I've done it a lot. Geocaching is where you find treasure with your mobile 'phone or GPS."

Raphael will be using a Garmin Colorado 300 to locate the caches, which we will aim to do over a weekend (23rd and 24th November).  With him, he will take Mummy, Daddy and younger brother Zachary, who will all try to help along the way, and not fall over in the mud.  We would like to stress that the impetus to raise money has come from Raphael, who has asked to donate some of his money to his cause, which he will do via Daddy, who can gift aid.
