Story

Thank you so much for visiting my JustGiving page and hopefully sponsoring me!

Many months ago one of my closest friends and I talked each other into signing up to do the BUPA London 10K run in order to get fit and raise money for charity. I had not 'run' for over 20 years before this February!

I am a cardiologist with a specialist interest in heart rhythm disorders. My dad suffered a fatal cardiac arrest due to a heart rhythm disorder when I was relatively young - since his death (16 years ago), there have been so many advances in the treatment of heart failure and heart rhythm disorders which unfortunately were not available then.

It is for this reason that my chosen charity is the Arrhythmia Alliance (the Heart Rhythm Charity). 1 in 4 of us will develop a heart rhythm disorder which could be fatal if not treated promptly and effectively. This is particularly topical because of the cardiac arrest recently suffered by the footballer Fabrice Muamba.

Any donation you make (large or small) will enable the Arrhythmia Alliance to continue their sterling work in raising awareness and educating the public about the signs and symptoms of heart rhythm disorders.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thanks once again and wish me luck!
