I’m not so much on the edge, as about to go over it…

On the 21 July to mark the end of my school years and to do something incredible daring (well for me anyway) I am going to ABSEIL down Avon Gorge.

It all seemed like a good idea at the time, chatting with the girls over a coffee about how we should do something exciting. 

WHAT WAS I THINKING!!!

I am absolutely TERRIFIED I hate heights; the only time I have ever tried it before I fell off the edge and that was only a little way up.

So why do it?  I hear you cry…

Well apart from the fact that it’s a fantastic opportunity to get out into our wonderful countryside, to take some amazing photos and to do something I will NEVER do again with a group of crazy friends. The main reason I am doing it is because we are raising money and awareness for a fantastic local charity, Raw Foundation and their Raw Blue Campaign.

The Raw Blue Campaign is working to reduce the amount of oil-based plastic in the environment by raising awareness about the true extent of plastic pollution and its impacts on humans, animals and the environment.

Nothing better illustrates our throw-away lifestyle and waste problems than plastic. It is everywhere. The production, use and disposal of plastic has become one of the most serious environmental and human health problems facing us today.

Through Raw Foundation’s unique prevention educational programmes we can all learn to change, nourish and protect the environment we live in. Young people are the worlds future and the core values of sustainability linked to their everyday lives need to be embedded from an early age throughout all aspects of informal and formal learning. However by amplifying the message across all sectors of the community, education can guide and motivate all people to pursue sustainable lives.
