First of all, thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We didn’t realize how close Ramadan was when we were  discussing this over a few beers in the early hours one morning.  However, after doing some research the next day we discovered that this year it starts on the 11^th Aug and ends on Sept 10^th .  Paul has been recently inspired by the story of Cat Stevens, now known as Yusuf Islam and Raymondo has been thinking about doing this ever since learning about Islam.  So we have decided to go for it and do it.  Why not?  There is no time like the present!

 

This will involve abstaining from alcohol for a month – difficult enough in itself for us – and also refraining from food and drink during daylight hours.  In Hong Kong, this will be from around 6am to 7pm. Muslims will also abstain from sexual activity as well, but we don't do any of that stuff anyway. 

 

We were mainly thinking of doing it for the sake of Ramadan itself rather than fund raising, but we figure it’s going to be even more motivation to complete the fast if we are being sponsored by you guys.  So please donate some money for our chosen charity, Save the Children.  It helps children in poverty all around the world, a worthy cause we’re sure you will all agree.

 

However, we also hope to learn more about enduring hardship, appreciating things we take for granted and self discipline.  Good luck to you all.  We all need a bit of luck don’t we?!
