Hi all, for those who work within the Riverside Group I am employed as a Neighbourhood Warden over at Community 7 in Liverpool, Merseyside North and for those other people who look at this page you know me, if not just ask !
Over the past couple of years I have raised various amounts of monies for charities doing events like : Coast to Coast cycle ride of 140 miles and a 30 foot fire-walk over hot coals. So this year in 2009 I have deceided to enter into the sport of BOG SNORKELLING and have entered the World Championships 2009.
The event takes place in a bog on private farmland on the outskirts of Llanwrtyd Wells on Bank Holiday Monday August 31st.2009. The area is spectacularly scenic and the site itself is now an area of Special Scientific Interest with much rare and protected plant and animal life (most of it in the bogs). Two trenches each 60 yards long have been dug out of the peat bog. I have to swim two lengths (120yds) of the bog with flippers and snorkel. No recognised swimming stroke can be used and lifting the head is allowed purely for orientation purposes! I will be individually timed and my time recorded. There are two bogs and I will be allocated one or other on registration. So for me to survive the murky waters of Wales if possible...I am asking you all if you will sponsor this challenge.
Riverside Groups chosen charity for the next 3 years is 'Wateraid' so what better way to 'splash about and raise some money'
WaterAid's vision is of a world where everyone has access to safe water and sanitation.
WaterAid’s mission is to overcome poverty by enabling the world’s poorest people to gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education.
WaterAid enables the world’s poorest people to gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education. These basic human rights underpin health, education and livelihoods and form the first, essential step in overcoming poverty.
